Neighbours Guttering Damaging My House

My neighbour recently had their gutters replaced and the fitter cut approximately 6 inches of my gutter off and joined the new gutter to mine with expanding foam and filled in the back with expanding foam too.

The problem is that my neighbours guttering has rotted and is falling apart causing water to run down the side of his house. This has caused penetrating damp damage to my plaster and mould on one wall in my living room. The matter withint the next 14 days failing which advise them that you must reserve your rights in respect of any damage caused to your property and that yu propose to take the above. Subsequently this leaks and turns our garden into a quagmire and makes the bedroom damp when it rains.

I had this next doors guttering dripped on to my property and damaged it over time. I mentioned it everytime i saw them and eventually they got it sorted. Personally i would now ask her again and say that the situation is getting worse and causing damage to your property give her one month to resolve issue. The constant leak has made the render on the front of my blister and bubble and some bad weather we had a few weeks ago completely took the render off there is damp in my lobby and i can t repair the render untill the guttering is fixed.

Posted on jun 30 2013. Your neighbors will be responsible for damages. Just on the neighbours side of the downpipe the guttering was bodged and cut too short to meet the down pipe joint correctly. It is understandable anyone not wanting to get into a row with their neighbour but this is a very selfish of her not to respond.

Start with a demand letter and hopefully they will understand that you are not playing games.
