Once i mixed the paint and fabric medium i just applied the mixture with a sponge brush. Do not just go to the scrap pile of a carpet store the odds and ends that are usually small off cuts from jobs that the customers do not wish to keep. I am not sure how it would affect a soft rug. I wanted the variations of different shades of red. Add more coats as desired. I didn t want a solid red rug.
